This steel ball dates back to an age of industrial muscle. It used to be an all-important cog in the grinding mills that fueled this nation’s manufacturing ascent. These mills, which gluttonously consumed raw material, converted minerals and ores to a fine power. That powder supported a multitude of industries.
Balls such as these were the silent slaves of ball mills. Their crashes physically pulverized materials with enough force and precision. Each impact represented a moment of human ingenuity in practice.
The Sound of Progress
Just think of the cacophony — metal against metal reverberating through enormous mill halls. The pattering of a mad orchestra playing the overture to creation. Dusty, purposeful air. These steel globes, little-seen and often forgotten, were essential in remaking our world.
